Genevieve & Hemmy formed in 2017 after long time musician friends switched from their garage/grunge/blues roots in Beneath Trees to the dual acoustic guitar/vocals creating their driving folk blues sound. A mutual appreciation of travel & drive for music has allowed the two to play shows across the country in diverse venues & spaces.

Originally from Northern New Jersey, the two began playing music under the name Beneath Trees in 2013 and experienced significant receptivity playing shows in various bars, venues, coffee shops, bazaars & DIY house venues in Savannah, GA.

The two took separate paths in 2015 where Genevieve spent time in various musical projects including Tokalos, touring across the country a few times over while continuing to be a part of staple groups in the Savannah music scene, playing Savannah StopOver Music Festival in 2015. Hemmy spent a few years extensively travelling the US, gaining experiences and writing music under various projects including Hemmy Hemmerich. Street performing became integral to his travels, shaping his songs and performance style.

Influences for the two include traveling, nature, Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Nahko & Medicine for the People, Rising Appalachia, Dr John, Mississippi John Hurt, the Grateful Dead, & the wide variety of independent musician friends the two have had the pleasure of touring and playing shows with.
